Windy City Performs Teaching Artist Internship

Internship Overview:
Our Interns will work closely with experienced Lead Teaching Artists on our intensive Musical Theatre Summer Camps. Alongside the Lead Teacher, they will work with students on learning the foundations of acting, musical theatre dance, and performance in the context of a show that will be performed at the end of the Camp. They will be asked to take lead on warm-ups, blocking, coaching, and choreography as delegated by the Lead Teaching Artist. Interns will develop classroom/rehearsal management, lesson planning, all ages education, and educational communication skills. They will get the opportunity to develop close relationships with Experienced Theatre Educators and a rapidly growing Theatre Company.

Windy City Performs is one of Chicago’s most vibrant performing arts organizations, and home to Windy City Theatre Company and the Conservatory for Young Artists. The company provides classes, camps and shows for all-ages at its Jefferson Park campus, and in schools around Chicagoland.

Founded as Youth Company Chicago in 2012, Windy City Performs has grown into a bustling program that serves over 1200 students a year in education programs, and performs for thousands and thousands of audience members. More than just another theatre company, Windy City Performs has become an artistic home where teachers, students, parents and community members learn, create, perform, and inspire each other.

In 2015, we renovated and opened the new Jefferson Playhouse, a 70-seat venue that allows us to showcase our students and professionals in a beautiful, intimate blackbox-style theatre.

We offer rich music theatre education and performance experiences for the families of Chicagoland through our four program divisions: MAINSTAGE, YOUTHSTAGE, TEENSTAGE, and KIDSTAGE. Our Schoolsite programs and Kindermusik classes add additional learning opportunities for even more families.
