Summer Art Camp Interns / The Art Center Highland Park

Creative Summer Art Camp Interns are needed to assist art teachers this summer at The Art Center Highland Park (TAC). Camp begins June 18, 2018 and runs until August 10, 2018. All interns should be comfortable providing support to the instructors and working with children and teens. One intern should have a background in clay and all interns should demonstrate enthusiasm for visual arts. The camps include Ceramics, Teen Film Making, Teen Art Intensive in Painting, Arts & Crafts, Mural Painting, Printmaking and Mixed Media. Interns will receive compensation in the form of one free art class at TAC valued up to $350.

The Art Center Highland Park (TAC) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to education in the contemporary visual arts through classes, outreach programs, gallery exhibitions and events. TAC is a community-based organization whose goal is to ensure access to the arts for all ages and cultural interests. The Art Center Highland Park is an Illinois 501 (c)3 not for profit organization. Since 1960, The Art Center Highland Park (TAC) has provided a visual arts education to Highland Park and its surrounding communities. This vigorous community-centered organization inspires everyone from tots through seniors to achieve and transform their world through more than 400 art classes offered annually in photography, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, pastel, mixed media painting, ceramics, jewelry making, metalsmithing, digital arts, fiber art, mosaics, assemblage and more plus Summer Art Camp. TAC also provides of 200 need based scholarships per year and brings national and regional art of established and emerging artists to our galleries through 20 exhibits of contemporary art each year to the surrounding community and Chicagoland area.

 
 
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Must be reliable and responsible. Background in art preferred. Demonstrate positive attitude and enthusiasm for visual art. Preferred experience working with children and teens. Provide support to art teachers and act as a positive role model for the campers. Must provide references. Should have easy access to The Art Center Highland Park (TAC). Must also be available to work two to five days a week either mornings, afternoons or both. Must be able to commit to the full 8 week camp (June 18-August 10, 2018).
