Social Media Manager
The Chicago Fringe Festival (CFF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a unique opportunity for artists and patrons alike to perform and enjoy intimate, boundary-pushing theatre. We produce an uncensored and non-juried festival which showcases 24 performing groups over 5 days in five non-traditional theatre spaces. All performers are selected by first come, first serve and lottery. We return 100% of our ticket sales to the artists. And we keep the tickets prices low to provide access to the arts to the widest audience possible.
Established in 2010, CFF is currently produced by an all-volunteer staff which is dedicated to furthering the mission of CFF in this rapidly expanding stage of our history. Working with CFF is a great way to get involved with a fun and hard-working group of arts administrators and producers, to have a direct and immediate impact on the success of the festival through a collaborative but empowering work environment, to develop valuable skills and experience, and/or to connect with a wide range of artists, community members, business owners, etc.
The Social Media Manager is a year-round staff position that is responsible for managing the social media efforts leading up to and during the festival while also acting as the liaison to our PR Firm.
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Plan, develop and implement an annual social media campaign
- Manage and oversee the development and maintenance of CFF’s social media platforms (Primarily Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) while remaining within limited budget.
- Coordinate regularly with the Marketing, Publicity, Outreach, and Box Office Managers to ensure a cohesive and effective promotional effort
- Work with the Artist Relations Team to gather marketing information about the shows and plan marketing initiatives leading up to the festival.
- Work with Individual Giving Manager to ensure that donors are all recongized appropriately
- Work with Sponsorship and Community Relations Manager to ensure that sponsors are all recognized appropriately
- Work with the Special Events Manager, Executive Director, development team and other staff members to publicize the festival along with CFF’s year-round events.
- Act as liaison with our PR firm to ensure that the contracts are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.
- Strong computer skills, including the primary social media platforms, Microsoft Suite, Dropbox, and Google
- Acute attention to detail
- Solid time management skills.
- Self-starter and strong communicator with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently and on a team quickly and creatively
- Ability to conceive and deliver plans and strategies
- Experience managing or supervising interns, volunteers, etc.
- Familiarity with fringe festivals and a passion for the arts
This position requires approximately 5-10 hours per week and more during the Festival (August 30 – September 3). Monthly staff meetings and the post-mortem in October are mandatory.
