Awakenings is a certified 501-c-3 dedicated to making visible the artistic expression of survivors of sexual violence. We have a small gallery space in Ravenswood with the only known collection of survivor art. We hold a wide variety of year round programming, ranging from exhibit openings, to concerts, to monthly art making nights. We partner with rape crisis centers, counsellors, art therapists, local activists, and like-minded nonprofits. We are growing rapidly and want to spread the word, expand our community, and widen the resources we are able to offer survivors.
Goals and Objectives:
An ideal intern for Awakenings will be passionate about our mission, a self-starter, and able to see projects all the way through. The Programming intern will primarily work in the three following areas
Programming: You will be responsible for researching artists and potential collaborators and potential partnerships or donors under the Program Director’s instructions.
Event preparation and wrap up: You will be responsible for preparing the gallery space and restoring it for events and workshops under the Program Director’s instructions. Some attendance to work events and workshops preferred.
Provide general project support for Awakenings staff as needed
Must be passionate about our mission. Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited college or university. Must be social media, Mac, and Google Suite savvy.
