Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME) seeks a part-time musical theater teaching artist to lead the artistic/musical preparation for a production of “Shrek, Jr.” at one of ChiME’s partner schools. The ideal candidate will conduct auditions, assign students to roles, run rehearsals, provide vocal coaching, and create staging/choreography for the show. The ability to inspire students musically and artistically, generate creative ideas and foster them in others, set and achieve goals with an ensemble, provide direction to a group of students of various ages (4th-8th grade), and collaborate with other faculty members involved in the production is also essential.
2 or 3 dates for auditions in early December, 3:30-5:00pm
2-3 times a week from early January through early April, 3:30-5:00pm

The Chicago Center for Music Education was founded as the Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians in 1981. In 2014, we began doing business as the Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME). Our mission is to use the language of music to inspire self-expression, self-growth, and deeper human connections. Our goal is to provide long-term access to the many gifts music provides in hopes that one day all Chicagoans will value the language of music.
We serve nearly 3,000 children every year through our programs at ChiME and ten partner organizations, six of which are Chicago Public Elementary schools. Approximately 20% of the children we serve have diverse learning abilities and over 50% of the children we serve are economically disadvantaged. We provide our students with the gift of music through the following programs:

- Classroom-based music for K-8
- Private Lessons
- Music Therapy
