Audience Outreach Associate | Steppenwolf Theatre Company

On an ongoing basis, Audience Outreach at Steppenwolf Theatre Company is seeking candidates for the position of part-time Audience Outreach Associate. Associates will be responsible for making phone sales of our Season Membership subscription packages and fundraising for our community supported Annual Fund.


The ideal candidate for the position is a knowledgeable and energetic sales and/or fundraising professional with an interest in non-profit theatre.  Applicants must be comfortable soliciting donations and offering membership packages to our patrons over the phone. Previous experience or familiarity with Tessitura is a plus. This role provides associates an amazing opportunity to learn and develop in a world-class theatrical organization.

Formed by a collective of actors in 1976, the ensemble has grown to 51 members who represent a remarkable cross-section of actors, directors and playwrights. Compensation and Specifications: 

This position is hourly and is commensurate with qualification and experience. Excellent benefit package offered for part time employees, including dental and vision insurance, paid sick time, employee assistance program, pre-tax Ventra transit benefit program and a 401(k) matching retirement program.

The position requires nights and weekend availability as shifts are Monday – Tuesday 5pm-9pm, Wednesday - Friday 1pm-5pm and Saturday 10am-2:30pm. Shift hours will be added as needed according to staffing and campaign needs. Minimum weekly hours are set at 16 hours per week – maximum would be 26 hours per week.

  • Openness to being coached on improving sales techniques and becoming a more positive steward of the theatre
  • Self-Motivation. Successful Associates will contribute to the greater team’s daily and weekly campaign goals
  • Efficiency and understanding of sales software, or ability to be trained in software proficiency
  • Personality and creativity of sales techniques
  • Passion an enthusiasm for non-profit theatre and the arts
