No Press Required: Adding Printed Texture and Surprise to Your Paintings Workshop with Carolyn Swiszcz

Monday, August 20, 2018 (All day) to Tuesday, August 21, 2018 (All day)

Concept and Experience

Combining printmaking techniques with painted compositions offers a way to continually surprise yourself and loosen up, resulting in unexpected textures and happy accidents. This process-based workshop will encourage you to take risks, experiment, and incorporate new visual elements in your existing work.

Focusing on printmaking methods that do not require a press, Carolyn will demonstrate trace monotypes, stencils, rubber stamps, linoleum, gel medium "surprises", and rubbings. A spirit of experimentaiton and collaboration will be encouraged as you work to combine and layer different techniques. A group critique will close the workshop.

Open to intermediate to advanced painters.
