Seeking one to two more choreographers to present work in BUILT, showing as part of Links Hall's 40th anniversary season in October 2018.
BUILT is an evening length production that examines gender as a social construct, and how society has built ideals for how gender should be expressed as a specific sex. Additionally, BUILT will explore what defines femininity and masculinity, the pressures placed on gender expressions, and the repercussions of gender constructs. Dancemakers will be asked to explore how this social construct has formed their human experience, including the shift of rape culture into the Me Too movement, the idea of toxic masculinity or any other forced gender stereotypes. Works may be new or already existing, ranging from six to 20 minutes long. Additionally, choreographers are invited to create short solos or duets within the theme that will be intersperced between the larger pieces, around one to two minutes long.
Please send piece proposals, videos (if available), resume, and any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
There is no production fee, but choreographers are responsible for coordinating their own dancers and rehearsal space.
